The Project
By using new technology based on electromagnetic induction , the variability of fertility of a soil cultivated with cotton will be studied and will produce corresponding thematic maps of soil properties , which will be tested for their accuracy. With ground sensor ( EM38 ) and additional equipment (global positiong system-GPS) the electrical conductivity of the soil will be recorded, which will be associated with all the soil properties that make up the soil fertility ( chemical: pH, ORGANIC substance, NO3 -N, available P, exchangeable K, -B available microelements, mineral microelements, natural: available moisture, bulk density, organic: anorganopoioumeno N, CO2 release ) and will produce corresponding thematic maps.
Also, the nutritional status of the plants will be studied by concentrating nutrients mentioned in plant tissues, and the crop yield by recording them in respective maps. The ultimate aim is the control of a new technology in Greek territorial systems, used in modern farming systems, which adequately address soil variability ( Precision Agriculture )
